frequently asked questions about the project

kalyska.archive is a young project that aims to develop and become a public initiative. We would be happy to receive your feedback on our work, and we also encourage you to send your questions to kalyska.archive@gmail.com or direct message on Instagram kalyska_archive

Home movie, family chronicle, home videos, recording everyday life and life, private recordings, amateur filming, life registration – all these are different names for the same process: preserving the memory of moments and events that are important to a person. Such recordings reflect people’s everyday life and life. For example, videos of family holidays and gatherings, vacations at grandma’s in the village, parties with friends, long and short trips, picnics in the forest, videos from kindergartens and schools, as well as shots of buildings, streets and favorite treats in a pastry shop. Saving and subsequent study of such videos helps to understand our roots and what awaits us in the future.

Private recordings, or home movies, are very valuable material that reflects what everyday life looked like outside the official context or the context of mass culture. This is material that can inspire and teach not only the participants of the filming and their descendants, but also society in general. With your consent, the video will be stored in the cloud on Google Drive. You and the kalyska.archive team will have access to the file in the cloud. In addition, we will store copies of your video on two different HDD drives, which the archive team will have access to.

One copy is good, but two are better. The second copy is the so-called backup. It is made in case the inevitable happens to the first copy. It is difficult to say what might happen. But if something does happen, the video will not be lost, because there is a backup copy.

By transferring the video to the kalyska.archive collection, you give permission to use the video in promotional materials of the archive on social networks and during offline presentations. Other use without your consent is prohibited.
